Show Notes

I am delighted to welcome Dr. Bill Henninger to the podcast! Bill is Associate Professor of Family Studies in the School of Applied Human Sciences in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Northern Iowa. He also serves as Associate Dean for the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. Bill teaches courses such as Professional Practice, Human Identity & Relationships, and Research Methods. He also hosts a podcast called, “Bachademia” with a UNI colleague that applies current research in dating to the Bachelor franchise.

In this episode, Bill shares with us the power of compassion in our role as professors and reminds us that “students are going through a lot and any amount of reaching out and helping them means a lot more than you will ever know.” He also provides personal stories from his life, classroom, and campus leadership that highlight the need to meet students where they are at and how to create multiple points of access for student learning and engagement using humor, reality T.V., and Twitter.

You can follow Bill on Twitter @DrBill - FamilyServ. He is always excited to hear about new trashy reality T.V. shows about relationships and dating that he can use in his teaching - so feel free to reach out to him with your ideas!
